Thought of You

Thought of You from Ryan J Woodward on Vimeo.

This was a cool little video that I came across because I heard an interview with Bryan Woodward on the Paper Wings podcast. It’s a beautifully made film that captures a relationship between two people with excellent animation. It’s worth mentioning that you don’t see facial expressions here at all – everything is done through gesture. And while the film looks like a bit of test animation (and very well could be) I’m not sure that the film would be improved with fleshed out characters.

I have to admit I’m not quite sure what the story is, even though there clearly is one. Judging by the title of the film my guess is that the woman exists in the guy’s imagination while she is in the spirit form as his ideal woman. When she becomes real like him, he abandons her because he likes the idea of her more than reality. Anyway, that’s my take.

Be sure to check out the Paper Wings podcasts. There’s a lot of good stuff going on there.
